Charli XCX Portrays a Dark Alter Ego of Her Own Identity in Satirical Film Preview

The Grammy-winning artist is preparing for a major big screen onslaught in 2026, starting with the mockumentary titled The Moment.

Throughout the movie, she portrays what she refers to as a hell version of her own persona.

It’s the truest representation of the music business that I’ve ever witnessed, Charli remarked.

She elaborated in a discussion: It’s far from a live performance documentary, however the inspiration came from the demand to make one.

A Sneak Peek into The Film

The first teaser, released on Thursday, blends authentic footage from her live performances with made-up backstage scenes.

The Moment is directed and co-written by the director, who revealed that the story focuses on a reality where the singer opted for alternate decisions throughout the promotion of her chart-topping release Brat.

A Busy Film Calendar

The mockumentary is just one of several upcoming film appearances for Charli, who has featured in three cinematic festival entries in the current year.

Future Ventures

The following year will also see the artist alongside Olivia Wilde in erotic drama I Want Your Sex, Natalie Portman in art world thriller The Gallerist, and Barbie Ferreira in horror remake Faces of Death.

She recently signed on to appear in Dakota Johnson’s maiden directing project A Tree in Blue.

Musical Contributions

February will also include the launch of the filmmaker’s adaptation of Wuthering Heights, which will include original songs from the singer.

She will also create the soundtrack for the story Mother Mary, with Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel, planned for launch in the coming year.

The mockumentary is scheduled to debut on January 30.
