Disturbing Video Captures Moment Officers Suffer Blade Attacks in Surprise Attack
One ranking policeman who rushed to the assistance of a fellow officer that got attacked by a knife attacker was granted the Monarch's Honor for Courage.
Sgt Tim Ansell struggled against 27-yr-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he placed a blade to the neck of his fellow officer Sergeant Marc Foster.
Brown initiated the assault as the policemen and their colleague, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were conversing to a motorist subsequent to a road collision in Whalley Range in July 2023.
Brown knifed and cut the two Sergeant Ansell and Sgt Foster before Police Constable Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a Taser.
"Policeman attacked," the constable stated over his communication device.
Officer-mounted and vehicle camera recording shared by the agency revealed Brown, who was dressed in dark clothing with a hood covering head, approach to Sergeant Foster from the rear with a knife outstretched.
He struck the policeman who tripped and went down to the pavement, after which Sgt Ansell intervened and tried to wrestle him to the floor despite being continually attacked with the weapon.
Police Constable Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and awaited a clear shot, ending the fight to an end.
Sergeant Ansell can be heard to say: "Please provide assistance on my throat here, I got knifed in the throat."
Sergeant Ansell received two deep cuts to his neck and more injuries to his limbs and body, while Sergeant Foster experienced slash wounds.
The department reported Sgt Foster utilized his palms to stem his colleague's bleeding prior to medical personnel arrived.
The latest recognition arrives subsequent to the law enforcement team received departmental Courage Honors in late 2023 and the prestigious bravery honor from the regional union branch in spring 2024.
They were also awarded a Regional Bravery Award in mid-2024.
"The efforts of all three officers eventually saved each other and resulted in no bystanders suffered any harm."
Brown was sentenced to an indefinite hospital order in April 2024, as stated by officials.
